The DSM Biogas business group develops, produces and markets innovative products for improving the production and yield of biogas. Our aim is to provide support for biogas plant operators with the know-how gained from years of experience in biotechnology.

With our MethaConcept®, we offer a service concept with innovative biogas process aids and services that demonstrably improves the efficiency of biogas plants.

We provide next-generation additives, including enzyme complexes, which act in a variety of ways and thus facilitate the optimal decomposition of plant biomass, producing higher gas yields and stability in the fermentation process.

A number of companies have used DSM’s highly active biocatalyst MethaPlus® to successfully improve the efficiency of their biogas plants. MethaPlus® splits plant fibres, providing the microorganisms with a continuous flow of fission products. The microorganisms multiply more quickly, more biogas is produced and the viscosity of the contents of the fermenter is reduced, which in turn leads to the decomposition of supernatants and to significant savings in process energy.

With the trace element product MethaTrace®, DSM Biogas has developed another additive for process stabilisation and successfully introduced it onto the market. In plants with a low gas yield and unstable process management, the use of MethaTrace®enables ideal process conditions, significantly improving the formation and composition of biogas and utilisation of the substrate.

DSM Biogas offers a wide range of laboratory analyses. In combination with our products MethaPlus® and MethaTrace®, which are produced at different points in the biogas process, we can provide support in running your biogas plant more economically and with greater stability.
