Major business segment: Provider of components and substrates, supplier
ExTox Gasmess-Systeme GmbH
Biogas analysis and gas detection systems for explosive and toxic gases
The key to the success of ExTox, a company founded in 2003, is the longstanding experience of its employees (in some cases spanning decades) in the field of gas measurement and gas detection equipment. Its devices are not engineered simply to operate under laboratory conditions, but must fulfil the stringent requirements of operation in harsh field environments. Easy assembly and an easy-to-maintain configuration as well as reliable, durable components, are indispensible factors when developing new products. The company’s approach, which is rooted in an industrial background, has also proven its worth in the biogas sector, and has made ExTox one of the leading suppliers in this field of application.
The integral measurement concepts of the IMC product range enable ExTox to offer powerful biogas analysis systems. IMC products combine all the components necessary for sample gas extraction, sample gas conditioning and sensor technology, comprising a gas detection control unit within a compact, wall-mounted housing. All the common measurement variables are, of course, provided for, with methane (CH4), oxygen (O2), hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2) in particular.
The IR absorption measurement principle is used to make extremely precise CH4 and CO2 measurements, as this is the only method which guarantees accurate, reproducible measurements. The O2 sensor has a service life of more than five years. Furthermore, the H2S measurement technique employed by ExTox is also stable with high H2S concentrations of up to 3000 ppm, such that resort to error-prone sample gas dilution is unnecessary.
A modular device concept enables the product to be adapted to diverse customer requests. As such, activated carbon filter monitoring, measurement point switching or field bus connection, for instance, can be easily integrated into the system.
The ExTox portfolio is complemented by devices which monitor ambient air with respect to explosion and health protection. In biogas plants, this commonly involves CH4 and H2S. Smoke alarms for fire detection can also be integrated as an optional feature.
