Efficient and clean: MAN gas engines for biogas plants
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG is not only one of the leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles in Europe, but also a specialist in the production of engines. The core competences of the MAN engine production based in Nuremberg are research, development and production of technologically leading diesel and gas engines. For biogas plants and cogeneration plants MAN offers biogas engines at ratings from 68 kW up to 380 kW.
Already for several decades MAN has been offering gas engines for commercial vehicles and stationary plants. At the beginning, stationary engines were operated with sewage gas and natural gas. For 10 years, MAN has also been offering gas engines for the natural gas industry and since then has been developing the engines and the product range. Nowadays five engine families with a total of 17 ratings from 68 kW to 380 kW for natural gas and biogas are available. New in the product range is the super-charged engine model E0834 with 68 kW for use with biogas. With this small 4-cylinder engine, MAN develops a new market which is more and more promoted by the new EEG regu lation. With exceptional success, MAN has placed the V-engines of the E2848 and E2842 in the market – the 8- and 12-cylinder used with biogas from 265 kW to 380 kW. Proven 6-cylinder in-line engines complete the biogas engine range with ratings from 110 kW to 220 kW. The extension of the product range and the variety of technological top-quality products have placed MAN in a leading position in the European market today.
For operators of biogas plants, the economical operating mode of the total plant is of decisive importance. MAN drive units make their contribution with state-of-the-art technologies and present-day materials. Most favourable maintenance intervals, long service lives and reliable operation increase availability and ensure the permanent generation of electricity and heat. High efficiencies contribute significantly to economic efficiency – as regards MAN gas engines efficiencies are over 90%.
