Schnell Zündstrahlmotoren AG & Co. KG

Innovative technology for the highest efficiency levels in fuel injection engines

The company: experience

Schnell Zündstrahlmotoren is a pioneer in the field of biogas plant construction. Once a full-line provider, the company redefined its role and became the market and technology leader for fuel injection engines. The core component of Schnell units is the electronic injection technology developed by the company. This guarantees continuous output and optimum combustion, even when biogas quality fluctuates.

The product: innovation

Fuel injection technology for use in agricultural biogas plants was optimised as a result of consistent research and development work. Continued innovations, such as the use of common rail injection or waste heat power generation using a gas turbine in the exhaust gas flow, enable extremely high electrical efficiencies of over 47% and allow reduced ignition oil quantities to be achieved.

The principle: service

Schnell units are equipped with tried and tested engines from Scania, Sisu and Mitsubishi. In addition to biogas, they can also be fuelled by vegetable oil. Across the globe, over 2,500 Schnell fuel injection engines with a total installed capacity of more than 500 MW are in operation. Depending on the customer’s requirements, units are offered for integration into engine rooms or as container solutions, which are supplied assembled and ready to connect. All units are subjected to a 100% performance test on in-house test benches.

The name: Schnell

As a systems supplier, Schnell offers comprehensive services from a single source: from project planning and design, installation, integration and commissioning to maintenance and operator training. Together, the service subsidiary in Stöckse (Lower Saxony) and the external service partners trained in the Schnell academy form an extensive network of qualified employees providing quick reaction times.
